AI literacy workshops for your community
We run hands-on AI education workshops for kids in your community, for homeschool co-ops and community groups, and practical AI training for teachers and school staff. Every session is built around doing, not watching. Participants leave with skills they can use the same week.
Delivered in person or virtually
Who the workshops are for
- Kids & teens Grades 3 to 12, grouped by age so the material actually lands. Younger students meet AI through stories and games; older ones build with it and pitch what they make.
- Co-ops & community groups Homeschool co-ops, libraries, community centres and youth organisations. We come to your space, or run it online for families spread across a region.
- Teachers & school staff Practical PD that goes beyond the basics: how AI actually works, prompting for lesson planning and differentiation, building your own AI agents and workflows, and redesigning assessments for an AI world. Every participant leaves with a working prompt library and a built workflow.
The AI literacy framework
Every workshop we run, for a nine-year-old or a head of department, is built on the same four pillars. A session moves through them in order, and a series returns to each one in more depth.
- Understand How these systems actually work, what they are good at, and where they fail. Hallucination and sycophancy explained in plain language, with live demos rather than slides.
- Use Prompting as a skill, practised on real work: lesson plans and rubrics for a teacher, projects and research for a student. The goal is fluency, not a list of tricks.
- Evaluate Reading AI output critically. Spotting bias, misinformation and confident nonsense, checking a claim against a source, and knowing when the answer is not good enough.
- Create Building things that did not exist before: projects, agents and multi-step workflows. This is where participants stop being an audience for AI and start directing it.
Responsible use: safety, privacy and honest attribution

Workshop series
Cohort programmes over four sessions, run across consecutive days or spread over several weeks. This is where the learning compounds — each session builds on the last.
AI Seed — Grades 3–6
4 sessions · 9–11 hours. Age-appropriate AI learning built around stories, creativity and curiosity. No prior tech experience needed.
- What is AI? (2–3 hours): Introduction to AI concepts through stories and games — what robots can and can't do.
- AI Art & Creativity (2–3 hours): Using AI image and text tools to create stories, poems and illustrations.
- Talking to Computers (2–3 hours): Introduction to prompting — giving clear instructions to AI to get good results.
- AI & Me (2–3 hours): How AI helps us read, learn and stay safe online — ethics for kids.
AI Grow — Grades 6–9
4 sessions · 10–11 hours. Intermediate AI learning for middle school. Builds from awareness to hands-on application, with a strong focus on ethical thinking.
- How AI Thinks (2–3 hours): How machine learning works, pattern recognition, and real-world AI applications.
- Prompt Engineering 101 (2–3 hours): Writing great prompts, iterating, and getting better outputs from AI tools.
- Build with AI (2–3 hours): Hands-on: use AI tools to build a mini project — a story, an app idea, or a campaign.
- AI Ethics & Bias (2–3 hours): Who builds AI? Who benefits? Exploring fairness, privacy and responsibility.
AI Launch — Grades 10–12
4 sessions · 15–16 hours. Advanced, career-connected AI learning for high school. Bridges AI skills to real pathways in the digital economy.
- AI & the Future of Work (2–3 hours): How AI is reshaping careers, and which skills matter in an AI-driven economy.
- Advanced Prompting (3 hours): System prompts, chain-of-thought and few-shot prompting for real-world tasks.
- ML Hands-On Lab (Half day, in person): Introduction to machine learning with hands-on tools — no coding skills required.
- AI Entrepreneurship (Half day, in person): Hands-on with AI tools: ideate and pitch an AI-powered product or business idea.
AI MBA for Educators — Teachers & school staff
4 sessions · 18 hours. Practical, domain-specific AI skills teachers can apply immediately. Demystifies how these tools work, what they can't do, and how to guide students to use them responsibly. Runs as teacher professional development, on your professional development days or spread across a term.
- AI Foundations for Educators (2–3 hours): How AI and large language models actually work, their capabilities and failure modes (hallucination, sycophancy), and responsible-use ground rules, including what never to paste into an AI tool. Live demos of general tools and education-specific ones.
- Prompting & the Teacher Workflow (Half day): Prompt structure, then an applied lab using your own materials: lesson plans, rubrics, differentiated resources, feedback on student work, parent communications, and admin documentation. Goal: reclaim hours every week.
- AI Agents & Workflows for Educators (Half day): What AI agents are and how they differ from chatbots, what agentic AI means for educators and schools, and connected workflows via connectors (Drive, email, docs, slide generation). Hands-on lab: build your own multi-step workflows.
- Assessment, Integrity & AI Literacy for Students (Half day): Why AI detection fails and how to redesign assessments for an AI world (workshop: redesign one of your own). Teaching students to evaluate AI output, spot bias and misinformation. Each participant leaves with a draft classroom AI policy. Open Q&A.
What hosts say
From the trustees, school leaders and educators who have hosted a Chalky workshop.
Chalky's team delivered a high-quality AI workshop that families in our community could immediately engage with. The team was knowledgeable, organized, and excellent at connecting technical concepts to real-world applications.
The workshop taught our students a lot about AI, they are very excited to learn, it was a great addition to our classroom. We are looking forward to having Chalky's team back again soon!
Chalky's workshop gave our senior students a new perspective on AI and inspired them to explore what they could build with it. It sparked their curiosity, encouraged them to start thinking about their own AI projects, and opened their eyes to how AI could connect with their future university studies and careers.
Who runs them
Chalky's AI workshop team brings deep expertise in AI engineering and research, with members educated at leading universities across North America and trained by leading AI researchers. With more than 10,000 hours of combined hands-on machine learning experience, our team has contributed to published research and collaborated with organizations including IEEE and the Statistical Society of Canada.
